SpeakOut Wireless does not offer FREE Evenings and Weekends or FREE SpeakOut to SpeakOut calling. You get the same low rates regardless of when you make or receive a call making SpeakOut simple and uncomplicated.

How do I check my airtime balance and or airtime expiry?
Dial *777 and press send to retrieve your account information - always a FREE call.
Where can I purchase SpeakOut Wireless Airtime?
Participating 7-Eleven Stores in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba and Ontario. On-line or telephone airtime purchases are not available.
Can I transfer my airtime to other SpeakOut Wireless phones?
No. Only SpeakOut Wireless Airtime can be used.
How do I add airtime to my SpeakOut Wireless account?
Airtime vouchers can be purchased in $25, $50, $75 and $100 dominations at your local 7-Eleven store. To activate airtime vouchers from your SpeakOut Wireless phone, dial *888 and follow the prompts. Have your SpeakOut Airtime voucher ready when calling.
Text Messaging
Can I send text messages to wireless numbers in Europe?
Yes. You can send text messages to most International Wireless GSM subscribers. See Rates for more information.
Can I send messages to text message short codes?
No. This service is not available from SpeakOut.
Short codes are commonly used to access voting services and mobile services etc.
How do I opt out of promotional text messaging from SpeakOut?
To opt out of promotional text messaging and not receive text messages on special offers and information from SpeakOut, please dial 611 on your SpeakOut phone to speak to a customer service representative.
How much do I pay for text messaging?
Outgoing Text Messages:

FREE regardless of the originating Wireless Number
Text Bundle - NEW!
$10/month gets you 2,500 outgoing text messages* and as always, incoming messages are free! Visit a 7-Eleven store to purchase a text message bundle and get texting.
Check your text balance and expiry by calling 1-877-316-0492, toll free. You will also receive a text message two days prior to expiry, advising that your text bundle is due to expire. Once the voucher has expired you will receive an additional text message, advising that the voucher has expired, and your new text rate is $0.10 per text.
*Plus applicable taxes. Text bundle expires 30 days from activation date. No credit for unused or expired text messages and balances are non-transferable and non-refundable. To successfully add the Text Bundle to your SpeakOut account you must have an airtime balance greater than $0 and your account must not expire within the next 30 days.
Unlimited Browsing
How much does it cost to use the web browser on my phone?
Unlimited browsing $10/month (includes all applicable taxes).
To add this great feature, just dial 611 from your handset and talk to customer service. The $10 fee will be automatically deducted from your airtime balance each month.* See Phones for data-capable devices.
* To cancel this feature you must call customer service as it automatically renews each month. If your SpeakOut airtime balance drops below $10.00 and SpeakOut cannot collect the funds at the time of renewal, the Unlimited Browsing feature will be removed from your account.
Long Distance
Can I use my SpeakOut phone anywhere in the world?
Calls can be made from within Canada to anywhere in the world. Long distance rates apply (plus per minute airtime rates). See the Long Distance Chart for more information.
You cannot make calls from within the U.S. or from elsewhere outside of Canada as SpeakOut in Canada does not provide roaming services.
Are all numbers in my area code considered a local call?
Yes. SpeakOut Wireless offers a larger calling area than traditional Wireless service providers. In fact, many areas in your province are considered a local call. See the current SpeakOut Rates.
While traveling, will my outgoing calls be long distance, if they are local to the city I am visiting?
Yes. You are charged long distance charges for any calls while outside your local calling area. Your phone number is assigned to the area you designate your local area.
Can I use my own Long Distance provider instead of using SpeakOut Wireless for long distance?
Yes. If your Long Distance Provider offers service via a Toll Free number you could utilize this service. However, normal local airtime rates would apply.
Local Number Portability
What is local number portability?
Local Number Portability enables Canada’s wireless phone subscribers to retain their phone number when changing service providers. This is similar to the system which is currently in place for home and business numbers.
Can I port my landline phone number to wireless?
Yes, in some cases you will be able to keep the same phone number when transferring your landline phone service to wireless service. However, in some rural areas numbers are not eligible for Number Portability at this time. Please call 1-866-310-1023 to see if your existing number is eligible to be ported to SpeakOut Wireless.
Will I be able to keep my existing phone when I make the switch to SpeakOut Wireless?
No, you will need to purchase a new SpeakOut Wireless phone. See Phones for phone costs.
Can I port my existing Pre-Paid or Post Paid wireless number to SpeakOut Wireless?
Yes. But before considering a switch, you should ensure that your phone number is still active with your existing service provider. Please also note that any unused airtime minutes cannot be carried over to SpeakOut Wireless.
What information will you need from me to transfer my number to SpeakOut?
Transferring a wireless number to SpeakOut:
* Your current wireless phone number and most recent monthly bill
* OR, your phone number and one of the following: your account number, your password/PIN or your phone’s Electronic Serial Number/Mobile Equipment Identifier (ESN/MEID) number which is located on the back of your phone under the battery.
Transferring a landline number to SpeakOut:
* Your most recent monthly bill as we require your name and address exactly as it appears on your bill.
How long does it take to transfer my existing number to SpeakOut Wireless?
The process to transfer your number should take about 2 hours to complete during normal business hours. As such, it can take up to 72 hours. Once the trasfer is complete, your old phone will stop working and your SpeakOut Wireless number will become active.
Do I need to provide Personal Information when I purchase SpeakOut Wireless Service?
At this time no personal information is required.
Can I use any GSM phone with SpeakOut Wireless Service?
You may be able to use 850/1900 Mhz phones with SpeakOut Wireless Service, but 7-Eleven does not support Non-SpeakOut Wireless phones. Features such as voicemail, Text Messaging, and Wireless Web may not work with Non-SpeakOut Wireless phones.

Can I choose my phone number?
No. SpeakOut Handsets have pre-assigned phone numbers so you cannot pick a specific number for your phone.
Misc
Where can I use my phone?
SpeakOut Wireless Coverage is available to over 94% of Canadians.
Can I purchase a SIM card without a phone?
No. SpeakOut Wireless Service is available only with a handset purchase.
What happens if my “SIM card is Rejected”?
If you accidentally change the security code on your SIM card and the SIM card is rejected, replacement SIM cards are available upon verification of an active SpeakOut Wireless Account. See Rates for details.
Can I get an invoice with my monthly activity?
No. In order to keep your costs as low as possible we do not provide monthly invoices.
What warranty coverage does my new SpeakOut phone come with?
SpeakOut handsets can be returned to the 7-Eleven you purchased your SpeakOut handset from for exchange due to defects within 30 days. Be advised that any purchased airtime refills are not refundable. Nokia Ltd. provides a one year warranty on your handset. See your manuals for additional information.
Voicemail
How do I setup and access my voicemail?
Set up your voice mail by pressing and holding the 1 key on your mobile phone and follow the voice prompts
OR
Dial your 10-digit mobile telephone number and upon hearing the voicemail greeting, press the pound (#) key and follow the voice prompts.
How do I retrieve voice mail messages?
From your cellular phone
Press and hold the 1 key on your mobile phone, and enter your personal voice mail passcode, and follow the voice prompts.
From a landline phone
1) Turn off your SpeakOut phone and dial your own SpeakOut number.
2) When you hear the greeting, press the pound (#) key.
3) Enter your personal voice mail passcode and follow the voice prompts.
Activation
How do I activate my new SpeakOut Wireless Phone?
Simply follow the 4 Step instructions on your activation card, located inside your SpeakOut Wireless phone box. You'll also need your 7 digit activation code and 5 digit Store # that is printed on the blue “Welcome to SpeakOut Wireless” quick start guide.
